Ffion Campbell Davies

Associate Artist\Workshop Facilitator

Born in Cardiff, Wales in 1991, of mixed ethnicity Welsh Grenadian. Ffion graduated in 2013 from London School Of Contemporary Dance. Exchanged with Calarts, Los Angeles in her final year to study Balinese Dance and Gamelan with Nanik Wenten and Nyoman Wenten, North Indian Vocals with Aashish Khan, and Latin percussion with Aaron Rafael Serfaty. 2014 she traveled to Brazil and Cuba and studied Afro Brazilian, Afro-Cuban dance, Orixa’s and Candomble ritual influences, trained with Nildinha Fonseca Compania Balé Folclórico de Bahia, and Vero Pasos, Tatiana Campelo, Rosangela Silvestre at escola FUNCEB, Salvador.

Jordi M Carter

Associate Producer

Jordi is a multidisciplinary creative from Streatham, South West London. Currently, he is the Taking Part and Creators Program Young Associate at the Young Vic Theatre. Here, he supports the work of the Taking Part and Creators Program teams, engaging a wide range of community members, young people, emerging artists, and professional creatives in the work of the theatre, as well as contributing to the creative delivery of Taking Part and Creators Program projects and productions.

In 2022, he joined the Spring 2022 cohort of Young Producers at Theatre Peckham, learning within a collective of young Black artists about the essential skills of Creative Producing.

Michael Johnson

Creative producer

Michael Peter Johnson is a creative producer specialising in contemporary dance, live art, fashion and film. Michael currently works for Jean Abreu Dance, Luca Silvestrini's Protein, Lindy Nsingo and has been producer for writer/director Sonny Nwachukwu / Gateway Arts since 2019. He manages multiple touring, performance and participation projects. Michael incorporates collaboration across his creative practice & produces new dance shows, programmes and events. Recent works for Gateway Arts include, Eve and Cain (Sonny Nwachukwu), Saturn Returns (Sonny Nwachukwu, Unlimited Festival, Brixton House)He has extensive experience in arts management and is skilled in festival/project coordination, working for Sadler’s Wells Producing & Touring, Greenwich + Docklands International Festival and Sheffield Documentary Festival.

Sonny Nwachukwu

Artistic Director

Sonny Nwachukwu is a writer, director, and founder of Gateway Arts Productions based in London. His work is multi-disciplinary spanning across writing, poetry, dance, theatre and anything that lies beyond. His work primarily focuses on the African Diaspora. Sonny is a storyteller that incorporates dance and literature making his work relevant, unique, vibrant and thought-provoking. His academic background in Psychology informs much of his work and he is keen to tackle issues seen as taboo or ‘different’.

Sonny received his dance training from authentic West African and dancehall teachers. He has performed with numerous Afrobeats and dancehall artists working across the UK and has performed at venues including Sadler’s Wells and SSE Wembley stadium.

In 2019 Sonny was awarded an Unlimited and Spirit of 2012 commission, to create his first full length work entitled Circles, A choreopoem. Other current works and projects include Triple Threat (2019) at Poplar Union, Saturn Returns (2020) for Unlimited Festival, Southbank Centre, (Re)Union (2021) as part of Browntown Abbey at Battersea Arts Centre and new work in progress, Eve and Cain (2021).
